Veneration of the Cross

The picture above is taken from the Summit Dominican Nuns blog page, with permission by them of course. I thought this picture had a powerful meaning to it. Just look at it and think about what the picture is about! Just incase you aren't sure why the Sister is on floor next to the cross, here is an excerpt from the Summit Dominican's blog.


"According to Dominican tradition at the Veneration of the Cross while the Reproaches are being sung, the Sisters go up barefoot to the Cross laid on a pillow in the center of the Choir floor, genuflecting twice before making the venia and then kissing the large (really large!) relic of the True Cross. After the Good Friday service until sundown, the Cross is placed on a table covered with a violet cloth and a candle is kept burning before the relic."
